Vienna A or McLean B for U9 Girls?

DD has offers for the Vienna A team and the McLean B teams for Girls U9. Any thoughts on which team would be the better choice if all else is equal (commute, friends, Coach, etc.)?

She's 8. Whatever is easiest for you.

I would say take the McLean B offer. McLean is the stronger club and will offer more potential at the older age groups.

We had a good experience on the Vienna U9 B team.

Take the A team.

Vienna practices will be twice a week at 5pm basically year round with a few weeks off from mid Nov-Jan starting with summer sessions in June. I’m not sure about Mclean’s times and schedule but when we briefly looked earlier I think they were 3 practices per week. Pick whichever is most convenient for you to drive and commit to.

Whichever you think is more prestigious and will look better on a college application

Take vienna - if you ever decided to transfer they always ask what team did you play for.

I agree. Vienna is not known for having a strong girls program.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but she’s 8. I am sure this seems like a really important decision and I get that you want what’s best for her but it is really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Pick what is closest or where her friends are. You really can’t go to wrong either way. Good luck!

OP here. I appreciate the feedback from everyone that took the time to give a response. I know that there will be far more important decisions down the road but I guess we see it as one of our first decisions that hopefully lead us down to whatever our best experience can be. We feel the amount of time our family will be putting into this commitment and the probable effect on her siblings’ future club warrants searching for as much information as possible. I’m sure this is the case for most families.

Trying not to get too caught up in the visions of glory but really just trying to make one right decision at a time.

U9 McLean A and B teams practice together and have the same coach. However being on the A team you usually will have the best coach. Practices / games are still going on - if you can stop by a practice and watch and see what you think.
