Lets build more townhouses in DMV

Anonymous
I was passing thru Alexandria the other day and noticed the dramatic expansion of townhouses in and around Old Town. Why don't we do the same elsewhere. I certainly can see entire new communities along Rockville Pike of townhouses. I do not mean small communities of 20-30 homes, but entire open communities of 100 townhouses. All sizes, all prices. Take White Flint. You could create blocks and blocks of townhouses. There is too much space along the Pike that will never be retail again. You can do the same in parts of DC. I can see multiple blocks all over DC that you could do the same. You can focus on the areas near Metro to reduce added traffic.

I’d support this.

In DC, there is NIMBY warfare anytime someone wants to build new row houses. It’s absurd. And people wonder why there is no affordable housing...

It’s bigger than NIMBY. It’s BANANA now.

Build absolutely nothing anywhere near anything.

I love townhouse living. Small footprint. Our neighborhood is nit as walkable as I’d like. But I bike to most things. Biked to work today.

If it comes with pedestrian walkways and bike trails and everybody promises to ride Metro downtown, sure.
