Do you hear if DC didn’t make a team?

DC’s friends received offers before tryouts ended or within a few hours of the last tryout. Some were for the lower teams. Can I assume he didn’t make a team? This is VYS. Do you receive an email if your child is not selected for any team?

I had a friend whose son never heard back from them, even after she followed up and they said they would get back to her. It was ridiculous.

I know of kids who received waitlisted emails - but I don't know about rejection emails. You could contact the director of travel to ask. They are supposed to notify 48 hours after tryouts.

OP here - does that mean that they send out rejection emails? He’s been on lower level teams before and tryouts were okay but not amazing. I would not be surprised either way but he would like to know for sure. I checked spam and will email the director tomorrow if we don’t hear.

Sorry OP but we are at VYS and unfortunately that is how they do it. You pretty much never hear anything if you get cut/don't make the team. Maybe they do this to leave room to still give an offer if a lot of people decline but it is pretty crappy IMO to leave people wondering after tryouts and have to conclude their child is cut by asking other people about offers.

So unprofesssional. It takes 5 minutes to send a mass email to the not chosen families.

+1 All they have to do is send an email saying they sent out invites and if you didn't receive one your child didn't make it this year. Thank them, wish them luck at other tryouts and all that and keep people positive about the club.

This is OP. We never heard anything and DS realizes he didn’t make a team. He understands that it wasn’t his best year and house may be a better fit by I can tell a little part of him is wondering if we will still get an offer. It’s disappointing to be left hanging. .

They may work their way down the wait list players. This happened to my son one year. He did not get an offer, but there were enough kids that moved on to different clubs that slots opened up and he eventually got an offer.

Email Kevin James and ask what the status of your player is and how far down the wait list they are.

Also, there are still tryouts going on at McLean, Chantilly and PAC.
