Infertility Support and Discussion
| I have been referred to Shady Grove and was wondering if anyone could provide any info on Eric Widra or Barbara Osbourne? My OB/Gyn told me both are great--both are located at the DC office. |
| See the "Shady Grove and older women" thread below (even if you're not older). Both drs are very well-liked. |

If you search, you will find a lot of threads on this (including some as recent as the past week - see the one on SG and older women). Barbara Osborn is great. I highly, highly recommend her. I have also had a few u/s with Dr. Widra and like him - friendly, thorough, professional. Don't care for Dr. Nair. She answers questions in an offhand way and can barely conceal her desire to get out the door and move to the next patient. |

I saw Dr Widra and friend of mine saw Dr Osborn. I think you can't go wrong with either one (and you'll end up seeing both of them for monitoring).
Dr Widra was very nice and responsive when my cycles did not go well. He was honest with us about our chances and encouraged us to try a better clinic (Cornell)when he was out of ideas. Good luck! |
| I see Dr. Osborn and I think she's is fabulous. My friend prefers Dr. Widra, b/c she thought Dr. Osborn was too wishywashy. So it may come down to personal preference. I believe that the team of Drs review your protocol, if you are doing IVF, but I might be mistaken about that. Agree with PP about Dr. Nair. I recall being so grateful that she was not my RE, when she said to me at day 3 monitoring during an IVF cycle that I **only** had 8 follicles, and hopefully more will show up (all the other RE's and techs said they wanted to see at least 4). |
