Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
I'm having people over all day on Friday, and Costco was out of its fresh salsa that I always get in the big jug in the refridgerated section. Any recommendations for another good salsa? I don't really like the jarred salsa from the supermarket, but neither do I want to spend $5 for a tiny container of fresh salsa at Whole Foods that will last 20 minutes. A quick/easy recipe to make salsa would work as well if anyone has one. TIA.
I love 365 Brand (WF) salsa and I'm a picky eater.

I believe Cook's illustrated said that Pace jarred was the best of the jar options. I made salsa and it was very easy and sooo tasty. I hate tomatoes and still loved it. i'll see if i can find the recipe. i'm thinking i might bring for t-giving ...

Trader Joe's mild or spicy. Like homemade/fresh and everyone loves it.
Ugh, we don't like it over here. |
green mountain gringo jarred salsa is truly awesome. medium.
Giant store brand fresh salsa. Refrigerated section, next to Tofu.
OP, thanks everyone... the recipe looks great and I will try it one day.
I second the Green Mountain Gringo medium suggestion. Wonderful salsa, and I really don't like jarred salsas.
that is true. i ONCE tried the green mountain gringo at some office thing and remembered it was quite good. but i've never seen it in a store. where do you buy it?
Whole Foods has it. And Giant usually has it, but it is in the organic section and not in the main chips/salsa section. I tried the Garlic version and didn't like it much at all. |
