Infertility Support and Discussion

Hi - Does anyone know how it works when you start BCP and Lupron prior to an IVF cycle? I'm trying to figure out potential dates, and wasn't sure if you get your period, start BCP after that (my dr said you take BCP for 2 weeks and then take Lupron during last week of BCP). Can you just start BCP or do you need Day 3 monitoring/bloodwork prior to starting? If you only take the BCP with added Lupron for 2 weeks, do you get your period when you stop taking them, do day 3 testing, then start stimming?
I will confirm everything w/my dr, just thought I'd get a faster response here, so I have a ball park idea of what to expect. TIA! |
| From what I remember, you start BCPs a few days after getting your period. You do not have to go in for any baseline tests before starting BCPs. About two weeks later (they will give you an exact date) you start the Lupron. Again, you just start it -- you don't go in for an appointment first. They will give you an assigned date to come in for your baseline evaluation (you'll probably get your period a couple days before that) and then if you get the all clear, you'll start your stims. Good luck!!! |
| I just finished my BCP and am in the middle of the Lupron injections going in for Lupron eval tomorrow. PP is correct. No monitoring during BCP. You start Lupron on day 19 of pills. Stop taking pills on day 21 and continue Lupron. Should get period week after you stop BCP, continue Lupron and go in on day 2 or 3 of period for Lupron evaluation and bloodwork and ultrasound to start stims. I am at SG. Good luck! |
