Hybrid SUV

Anonymous
My boss told me to find a lease for a new car. We have a 2nd child on the way so we want an SUV. I drive an Audi now but it's a sedan and tight for two car seats. I rarely drive and only need 10k miles a year. We'd love to get a hybrid or electric car. Budget is $700 a month. Any ideas?

I’d look at Toyota, either the Rav 4 or the Highlander.
Toyota is a leader in hybrid technology. I’m sure there are others as well, but I’d definitely check out Toyota.

For that money you can go with a fully loaded RAV4, or nicely appointed Lexus NX hybrid or LX hybrid.

All are Toyota platform hybrid systems. I’d stick with one of those three cars. The LX is very roomy and has basically zero road noise. It’s like riding on a pillow.

We have a RAV4 Hybrid and my mom had one of the first Lexus RX350 (I think that's what it is called) hybrids. Hers lasted a LONG time, she loved it so much she bought a new one.

Highlander Hybrid SUV. Captains chairs in the second row. Third row (though only for children or very petite adults). Easy to drive and comfortable.

You mean RX hybrid? LX is the largest Lexus SUV with a 5.7L V8.

Just signed a 3 year lease on a Lexus RX450 hybrid w/10k miles per year for under $500/month. A hybrid RAV4 or a Highlander should be even cheaper. We won't really save much in fuel, but it just made me feel better to get 30 mpg rather than 20 for the non-hybrid. I chose to lease with the hope that there will be some good non-Tesla electric options in a couple years.

OP here, I am getting about 24 MPG with my A4. Did you have to put anything down to get 500 a month?

Why is your boss telling you want to do about a car? And are you and your boss having a baby together? Why "we"?

Also, we (my husband and I) only have one car because we both telework so we share this car.

You share a work leased car? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yes it makes perfect sense. Employers offer their employees cars as an incentive/bonus of working for them. So when they roll up to their clients they look successful. It doesn't matter to them if it's a shared car because you lease a certain number of miles a year.
