I have a Ph.D. and don't know any of my colleagues who would mock an Ed.D. or similar. I would refer to an education professional as "Dr." if they've indeed earned a doctoral degree. I don't try to split hairs or pull rank about what kind of doctoral degree.

She was at the recent JO Wilson community meeting (see other thread) and she seemed to be the most reasonable member of the leadership team. The rest were using jargon, refusing to acknowledge parents and seemed oblivious to very obvious parent concerns... I wonder if it had anything to do with it.... if she was in charge of Aileen Murphy who is the IS for the JO Wilson Cluster, I wouldn't be surprised if that was connected. Murphy is trouble.

I didn't say mock to their face. Probably more like an eye roll or a snide remark to a colleague.
Anyone using the title that way is going to inevitably sound full of themselves and a little clueless.

Medical doctors mocking Ph.D.s for calling themselves doctor will eventually find places where the eyerolls will get slapped off their faces, to mix metaphors. My federal research agency, has a whole lotta doctors without medical degrees and I am not seeing a lot of eyerolls at physics, genetics, biology, or math Ph.D's, and the same respect the Ed.D.
