| How late does your tween/teen sleep? My 14 yr old didn’t get up until nearly noon today. |
| Usually 8-8:30, occasionally he’ll stay in bed til 9-ish but he’s normally awake by 8. He doesn’t stay up crazy late though, usually 10-11. |
| Adult and I easily sleep that late or later. |
|
I make them get up at 10.
They don’t currently have any activities in the mornings, but in the fall, they have some that require much earlier wake up times. I cut them a break otherwise. |
| I let them sleep if they are doing their homework and chores and getting to their activities. Otherwise no. |
|
If sports, will wake them, but otherwise, let them sleep! 11-12 sounds about right, 14 and 17 year old.
Curious, not trying to pick a fight, why would you wake them if they need the sleep? |
| 13 year old sleeps until about 11am, getting about 13 hours of sleep. She’s grown 5 inches in the last 16 months. |
Same here. Sleeping in is one of the greatest luxuries and I take advantage of it whenever I can. As do my children, with our encouragement. |
|
Problem is then having them get up on Monday. Sleep researchers coin this “social jet lag” and it’s like flying to Europe every week. It’s not healthy...

Agree. As long as they are getting up fine for school, I let them self regulate. |
My 14 yr old DS will sleep probably until noon but I wake him up at 11am to give him his meds (for ADHD). He is tiny so I let him sleep as much as he wants unless we have somewhere to go. He has grown 3 inches in the last 10-11 months and the doctor was thrilled with that. |
| Somewhere between 8 and 9. |
| Never happens bc of sports. |
| My 13 year old wakes up around 6 like he does every day. I wish he would sleep later! |
I agree too...and I'm not a late sleeper. I normally am up at 4am during the week for work, so my sleeping in until 7:30 is soooo nice. Besides my kids have weekends where they're up at 6am for sporting events, so the ones they can sleep in, I let them. |
