Last week, MPD recovered 41 illegal firearms

From all over DC. These are just the ones they happened to find. Where are all these 18-22 year-olds getting guns? We need sensible gun control but what's to stop people from passing guns around to friends?

People don’t pass guns to friends. Thugs sell guns to thugs

Most illegal guns in NJ are from VA. Probably true for DC.

Do you have any conception how many "sensible " laws these people are already violating? But as soon as they get locked up and the key thrown away, it's boo hoo, poor misguided soul. The whole point of criminality is that criminals ignore laws. Watch the progress through the system of a few cases. Again and again, you'll see felons in possession getting little to no time. Again and again people caught carrying without a license, unregistered firearms, unregistered ammunition, prohibited magazines, all of them walking. You want to stop people from passing guns around? Lock them up and keep them locked up.

Drugs are illegal, But people still do them. War on drugs worked so well
Its illegal to speed, but people still do, so I guess we should ban fast cars
Its illegal to kill people but it still happens
Its illegal to cheat on your taxes but it still happens
Its illegal to text and drive, but it still happens. maybe we should ban all cell phones
Its illegal to steal,

making it illegal to have a gun means that only the people who follow the law won't have guns.

I love America but people like you who have probably never traveled outside the country and are so "USA #1 IN EVERYTHING BABY" that they cannot pull their heads out of their own rear ends and maybe look at systems that work in other countries really make the rest of us look bad.

No other developed country in the world has a gun violence problem like the US...not even close.

I'm the poster you quoted. and yes I have traveled outside of the USA. south american, canada, carribean, mexico, africa, europe. and not to all inclusive resorts where i didn't have to interact with the locals.

I love how you pick and choose "developed countries" Christ there are only about two dozen "developed countries" in entire world. someone has to be at the bottom of the list. Its not a big list but while at the bottom of th elist in once category, the greatest population by nearly 200 million people. over the next closest city. that's a shit ton of people...

there are nearly 20 countries that have a much higher firearm death rate than the USA.

In all the other developed countries, they have regulated firearms for their entire existence. where the USA has been pretty loosey goosey with firearm regulation, we are a free country.... just like you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. people will die kicking and screaming to keep their guns. strict gun regulation in cities like NY chicago, DC, ect. have done nothing. Criminals will find a way to get their guns. since there is no way to collect them all.

the homicide rate (firearm only) in the USA is about 12-13 per 100,000. in the usa there are approximately 120 guns per 100 people.
the homicide rate firearm only) in Honduras is about 66 per 100,000, but Honduras only has 10-12 guns per 100 people.

I don't walk around the US worried about being being shot...but if I lived in Honduras, I'd want to own a gun...
