| DD has said that she wants to make soccer her thing. She is one of the better players on her PPA (similar to Classic) team and wants to be more serious about soccer. I know that it could be challenging to find a spot for her. I want her to be happy to get the training she desires but we also have to be able to make this work logistically. I've been looking at different tryout options but am overwhelmed. We are in Bethesda - any recommendations? |
BSC. Ask specifically to practice and play at Muldoon's farm. If she can make it there, she can make it anywhere. |
That was a joke in case you dont follow DCUM soccer closely. If your daughter is playing for PPA you should have a pretty good sense of what your options are. Do not be overwhelmed. Try out for a couple of clubs. If nothing works out this year. Encourage daughter to continue to improve and repeat next year. |
| Take a look at MSI Academy. They tryouts scheduled for the rising U12 Girls this month. |
PPA development is not travel - they play against other PPA teams only so there is not real sense of the soccer landscape - other than the scary stuff I read here! |

| You should consider PWSI and make the drive that is if you want to be part of the team of the "future" at least half the girls are going straight to the USWNT. |
| Rush? |

What about PPA premier? Seems like it would be a natural segue from PPA dev...!
Otherwise, so far as I can tell, the MoCo options are limited to Bethesda, Potomac, and MSI academy. Oh, and there is also fc bordeaux (COE), but they have weekday traning at the SoccerPlex. I don't see how that's a reasonable commute from Bethesda during afternoon rush hour, but others do it so maybe there is robust carpooling or some such. Stoddert tryouts are over but you could try them, though that age practices down towards Georgetown, I believe. Oh, huh, and this is weird: I just looked at Stoddert's website and they have some newfangled All Star league. Tryouts later this month. Color me skeptical, but it might be a good way to move from PPA dev to travel... https://www.stoddert.com/Default.aspx?tabid=994800 Don't think there is an '08 Rush team. |
| Has your DD been approached by PPA to do rec? That's how they gather most of their travel teams. |
Sorry, I mean premier. |
Yes she has and she wants to stay with PPA because that is what she knows. They do practice in DC though and I’m not looking forward to communing home from DC only to turn around d and go back to DC! It may be the best option though. |
Carpools are a soccer parent lifesaver... |
