Mount Rainier, Hyattsville & Riverdale Elementary - anyone in the new Mindbloom Aftercare program?

Anonymous
We are currently at Joe's (obviously since it's the only real option), but I'm curious about the new Mindbloom aftercare that opened across the street from Joe's. Anyone have their kids there?

I would love to hear about this. One of my big reservations about potentially movong to Mt Rainier is lack of aftercare - what if you don't get into Joe's? More options wouls be great.

Caloramas YMCA also picks up kids from MRE and Thomas Stone but when I checked it out a few years ago it was horrible. Maybe it has improved. There are other options but they don't provide transportation.

Is there a reason why there isn’t aftercare at Mt Rainer ES? Have parents tried to advocate for it?

I've spoken with the principal about it, and sent a few emails, but have gotten nowhere and just signed up for Joe's.

Spellman parents got aftercare started several years ago. They did it independent of the Principal, although they had the Principal's support.

The PTA might want to contact Alphabest and see if they might be interested in starting one. I'm guessing you would need to get some signatures showing that there is interest, which it sounds like there is.
I doubt it is a priority for the Principal but it is definitely something that is a priority for parents.

MindBloom is currently at our DCPS school. The teachers are FANTASTIC. My child LOVE the crafts and songs. Its a really good language program too.
