| I haven’t compared insurance rates in a long time and was shocked how much lower liberty mutual was than our current policies (car = Geico’s, home =Usaa). If we moved both we would save about $1000 a year which seems great. Any insight into experiences with Liberty Mutual? |
| We switched to them for the same reason. Recently, I compared everything with Allstate and they were cheaper. You need to move around to get the best rates. |
| Longtime Liberty Mutual auto and renter/homeowner customer here....I’ve never had to make a claim, but any other time I’ve had contact with them (e.g. set up a new policy), their customer service is fantastic. |
| I did have a claim with Liberty Mutual and their customer service was fantastic. |
| I used to have liberty mutual but didn't have a great experience. |

I would be careful when shopping homeowners insurance. Only a few actually offer "home replacement" coverage with no Cap/Max
Erie Chubb Also ask yourself "how much run around do you want to deal with if god forbid you have to file a claim." |
Guaranteed or Extended Replacement Cost This option offers the most protection out of the three, and the costliest out of the three option. It is essentially an expanded version of replacement cost described above. The guaranteed replacement cost option pays for the cost to rebuild your home exactly as it was before a peril, even if the cost exceeds the estimated value of the home. The primary purpose of the option is to protect the policyholder against sudden increases in materials or construction costs, which can occur when many claims in an area are made. This is a good option to consider if your budget allows for it, and you live in a region that is prone to natural disasters or weather patterns with a large scale. Rather than a guaranteed replacement policy, some insurance companies offer an extended replacement policy. Instead of guaranteed cost coverage, the extended replacement option covers an additional 20% to 25% of the replacement value of the home. |
| Longtime LM customer (over 20+ yrs). have had 3 car claims (teenagers- one had over $5 k damage) and 1 small house claim (due to Superstorm Sandy)- they were great. Anytme I shopped around, they had the lowest premiums (alumni discount, multipolicy discount, etc) |
| We reshop almost every year. It can add up. |

What is the easiest way to shop around? We have a bundled deal with Nationwide for cars, house, umbrella. I feel like we need to shop around since I have never done it since we moved about 5 years ago...

Same. Someone rear-ended my car and messed up the bumper, and their insurance was Liberty Mutual. I essentially had a check cut and in my hand 3 days after the incident. Lovely customer support. Their rates tend to be high for young drivers though. |

We reshop ever few years. We were with Erie for five years but the 8% YOY increases were adding up. Switched to Geico/Liberty for a few years. called Erie this year and, low and behold, they have some “great new programs.”
It’s like cable. If you don’t switch every few years, they will keep increasing you. |
| Liberty Mutual is good as other posters have stated but stay away from Ross Porter, an agent in Maryland. He is unhelpful as an agent. |
