Question about EDP

Anonymous
I'm seeing a lot of Virginia teams saying they are looking to play teams in EDP. Can someone tell me which teams participate in this league? Is it similar to ECNL, CCL or NPL? How competitive is it? At what age does it start?

I was wondering that too. Was told the 2008 girls at SYC are doing EDP. When I go to the website and look at all the teams they are all from Maryland or north of Maryland. Will all their away games be out of the state?

Very good pro/rel league. Several MD teams, but more and more VA teams are joining. The best part is the pro/rel so every game is competetive and meaningful. EDP also holds several good showcase tournaments.

If you look at the standings across age groups and divisions, you'll find many examples of double digit goal differentials. The pro/rel in EDP isn't much different from NCSL pro/rel. Neither is the competitive/meaningful game ratio IMO. You will travel more in EDP than NCSL, on average though.

OP here. When I look at the list of teams there are a bunch of Virginia teams listed (Arlington, Loudoun, SYC etc) but when I go to the game schedules I am unable to find them listed. Are teams listed if they do one of their tournaments? Or are there game schedules that are not listed on their website?

I have 2 kids in EDP- both have played a bunch of Virginia teams.

There is the regular EDP schedules and then the NL Conference schedules. https://www.edpsoccer.com/nl-conferences

Just look at each age group in the Southern most divisions of each age group.

Go to the website for list of teams, tournaments, showcases, etc. https://www.edpsoccer.com/

We've played in the league for a couple of years now. Last summer it took over the Eastern Regional league also and runs these as regional conference extensions of the National League.

For Virginia, teams play in the South Atlantic conference in either team v. team or club v. club divisions (or in some cases both). Most teams are from MD, PA, DE, or NJ. So more travel than NCSL but about the same as NPL and CCL (i.e. Baltimore and Philly are just as close / closer as VA Beach). If more VA teams join then you're likely to be placed in the same division (if at same competition level) and therefore, less travel.

Competition is excellent. Next best thing to ECNL or DA, and a few of the teams are better than local ECNL and DA squads (Pipeline, Rush). One word of advice, if your team / club does decide to do this, don't play in the club v. club portion. There is much more scheduling flexibility and autonomy in the team v. team divisions and the competition level is the same.

If your club is in the NL conference, and the top team in the top division, youre stuck in the team to team format.

EDP is much stronger than NCSL or CCL and the top divisions are as competitive as some of the ECNL/DA league games. Not that gotsoccer.com is the gold standard of rankings but in some age groups, there are 5-10 EDP teams represented in the top 25. The 05 group you have Pipeline, MRM Rush, NJ Stallions and Howell United in the top 10. The top of the 04 is he same. More teams from VA will encourage the EDP managers to reorganize geographic regions. EDP will be a step up for most teams.

Went to the link provided and did a quick browse. Still don't see any Virginia teams on the schedules. I'm interested in girls but I did look at the boys too.

This. Our team gets crushed in EDP, but then goes to tournaments with CCL and NCSL teams and wins.

This is for boys. I don't know anything about girls in EDP.

If someone has a DC playing EDP who competes against any Virginia teams or plays for one of the Virginia teams can you please post the link to their schedule?
