| What is an acceptable deal? |
| Nothing |
| Are they telling you the same? The M3 is a collector car, and I wouldn’t expect a discount. |
| Sorry, I misunderstood thought you said M3. I cannot believe an X3 is $60k. That is just stupid to pay that much. Bmw doesn’t discount a ton, but you are just throwing money away for a loaded x3 at that price. Even at 10% off. |
You should get at least 8K to 10K. Nothing comment was from the BMW sales dude. |
Yeah, I think you are right. I should start at maybe 50 and negotiate to 40. Shopped around. Doable. |
Not sure what you're talking about, BMW discounts a ton. 10-15% is doable if you're willing to put the leg work in. |
Sorry guy, this isn't a Range Rover where 1k off MSRP is a normal deal. |
| I don’t think you’ll get more than 5 or 6k off. |
That would mean.. 15%.. of 60K.. like 9K discount? Really, you think it is doable? |
|
Could you please share some tips about the "putting leg work in"?. Maybe you know something that could help? |

Find a similar car in an adjacent market.. like Richmond or central PA or maybe even Baltimore. They dont' sell as many BMWs so they are more likely to discount. Then go with that dealer's website price to your local dealer and ask them to match it. They'll hem and haw but point out you'll happily make a 2-hour drive for that price.
I was buying a more desirable luxyury car model, and the local dealers wouldn't discount. I ended up driving up to Baltimore and buying the same car for invoice price. But that's a rare case.. usually the local one will discount rather than lose the sale. |
Great tip. Thanks! |
You must be a BMW salesman.
