We already knew that's why the Weekly Standard closed.

But it's nice to see it put clearly in print:
The conservative media would not exist if not for money from rightwing billionaires. The billionaires control the coverage. From Murdoch to Mercer to Anschutz (the Weekly Standard guy) to the Koches.

The whole conservative movement --- the whole Republican party --- is a fraud propped up by billionaires.

A similar metamorphosis has occurred not only among other conservative politicians but also conservative commentators. National Review, the Wall Street Journal editorial page, Daily Wire editor in chief Ben Shapiro, RedState founder Erick Erickson, New Criterion editor Roger Kimball and too many others to cite have all gone from opposing to supporting Trump. As Gabriel Schoenfeld noted at the Bulwark, the lone remaining bastion of #NeverTrump conservatism, Kimball has transitioned from comparing Trump rallies to those of the Nazis (“he encouraged a whipped up crowd to extend their right arms in Nazi-like salute while pledging allegiance to the Great Leader”) to calling Trump “a salubrious and morally uplifting"president.

The fear of economic extinction is a powerful inducement to see Trump in the best possible light — to focus on things you like (tax cuts, judges, Israel) while ignoring or excusing things that are hard to defend, like blatant xenophobia, attacks on the media as the “enemy of the people,” demands to lock up the opposition, declarations of “love” for Kim Jong Un, etc.

It's worth reading the whole article, about why money makes conservatives want to defend Trump.
The whole conservative movement is about grifters and profit.
Conservatives can't get real jobs because everyone with a brain knows their ideas are bad -- they can only get jobs in the conservative lie bubble. That's why they've all fallen in line behind Trump, because that's what the Republican billionaire donor class wants.

Work with me here: see the part of the sentence I emboldened? I am making a direct correlation between a media outlet's viewership numbers and the fact they only hire NeverTrumper Republicans and call them their Republicans. It is ridiculous to watch the tailspin of a once young and fresh media outlet turn into the country's foremost purveyors of Russian Collusion and TDS.

Don't forget: it is only going to get worse. The next gen doesn't even watch tv news. Obviously, CNN doesn't care about ratings.

Because they're not at the National Review.
They're not at AEI.
They're not at Heritage.
They're not at Fox.
They're not in the Koch donor network.
They're not in the Congress.
They're not in the RNC.
They're not in the White House.
They're not in the Federalist Society.
They're not in the judicial system.

Pray tell - where are the non-Trump-loving conservatives? Stephen Moore is the latest example of a conservative willing all along to embrace racism to support the donors.
