Calling all moms that "leak" and have looked into a TVT procedure

Anonymous
After having two vaginal births I pee myself when I exercise, cough and sneeze. I've seen a urogynecologist and he talked to me about having the TVT procedure to help support the ureter/bladder and to stop the leaking. I'm a little nervous about having the mesh in my body. Anyone else look into this or do it? Would love to hear feedback on the procedure and who you used.

I know a relative had it done fairly recently for other reasons. Don't know anything about the mesh issue, but I know she said afterwards that getting the procedure was one of the best things she's ever done for herself.

i'm interested in this. i've got a 9 week old. i leak when i exercise. i'm doing my kegels, but i swear i see no improvement at all. i'm nervous about what happens if this continues and for how long i should wait to see progress from kegels alone...?

seems like others are interested in this subject too, so i'm also bumping this thread.

Is this due to a uterine prolapse or just weak muscles?

Have you seen a physical therapist first? I assume you have already done many many kegels and related exercises, right?

I definitely wouldn't worry yet at 9 weeks, for the pp. Keep kegeling!

1. keep kegeling
2. if it is affecting your life (you wet your pants in public, or you have to wear a pad every day or have back pain) consult a PT. Try Pat Strott Wheatley @ Physical Therapy for Women, 1460 Ritchie Highway, Suite 201, Arnold, MD 21012, (410) 974-0922

I know women who used PT to solve their incontinence problems and it worked very well.

I had the H1N1, mild case, but the cough lasted for weeks afterward. I had to change my underwear constantly when I was sick until I could get to the pharmacy to buy so pads!!! (I just could not ask DH to buy them because I had no idea what I wanted, its been so long (hospital gave me a huge pack when DCs were born and otherthan that its been since 7th grade! I had to wear the damn sanitary pads to work for weeks because the coughing fits had me peeing in my pants. Ugh!!! Yes, I do kegels all the time.
