Blue Dress / what shoes?

Anonymous
I recently bought a dark blue sweater dress, just above the knee, long sleeves, round neckline. Very simple, straight, from H&M and truly bought it because it was a "small" and looked good on me. Now, I have this cute, small, blue dress and no shoes? I've looked a little - but I can't visualize what to wear with it. All one color all the way down w/ blue tights and blue suede pumps, lack tights & pumps, black boots? Please no bootie things - I just can't go there.

You could do just about any color. Much of your decision will be based upon the length of the dress.

I, too, struggle with blue skirts and dresses. With navy pants I'm OK with either black shoes or cognac or chocolate shoes. Tights make it harder.

Charcoal tights and gray suede pumps?

If you could find a navy & black patterned tight, that would tie it in with black pumps or black boots. I hesitate to wear black tights with a navy blue dress for fear of looking like I got dressed in the dark and couldn't tell blue from black.

Is it a blue that would work well with a chocolate brown?

If you wear a belt with the dress, that could give you a color cue for the tights and shoes.

Love to hear more opinions. Links to photos of how to make it work are always helpful.

I would wear chocolate brown tall boots and tights.

I like PP's charcoal suggestion.

Silver, bright green or nude color.

I think black totally works if the blue is more of a royal blue than a navy blue.

Second the recommendation on charcoal tights. Makes a nice transition to black boots.

How about tan boots?
