After school sitter for 2 kids

What do you pay for someone to watch kids after school? It would be from about 3-5:30 M-F in our home.

Once in a while or a regular sitter?

Good luck finding a regular afterschool sitter, though. Part time regular childcare is one of the hardest things to find.

OP - yes we paid $600/mo for the kids to be in the aftercare program at school. My son stopped liking it so I am looking into other options. The plan at the moment is for him to walk home on his own and keep himself entertained (DH works from home). But my DD is too young to be able to leave DH alone so am looking into other ideas. Was wondering if $500/mo was reasonable?

We paid $25 an hour (three hours a day/four days a week so considerably more than you want to payfor one kid and still couldn’t keep a sitter beyond five months. Hardest job to fill and so much harder to keep one!

Good luck!

Why not keep the younger DD in the aftercare program and see how your DS does walking home and keeping himself entertained? It sounds like an easy way to test independence for DS, but keep reliable care for DD.

I pay guaranteed $350/week for after school care for 3 kids.

OP - yes DS has started doing that, we’ll see how it goes... it seems that a home babysitter is too much $$ anyway

So, $10/hr?

No. You will not find anyone at that rate.

Middle of the day? Only 2.5 hours per day? Parent working at home? Those are all "negatives."

Triple it, and maybe you will find someone.
