I voted for him. Just to get that out of the way.
Disorganized. Only cares about certain issues, and forgets he’s CE of ALL of county government. Hasn’t bothered to appoint a bunch of department heads yet. So certain departments are completely flailing. I get that this is a transition and he actually had to campaign in the general instead of preparing to take office. But when is he going to get his act together? |

He's never had to be a manager. He was a teacher before entering politics.
I actually thought he'd be worse than he has been. Nothing great so far, but nothing awful either... well there is the pay raise for the unions, but I expected him to "pay back" the unions for their huge support of his campaign (around $1mln through PACs). |
| MoCo will never get the CE it wants. But it will ALWAYS get the CE it deserves. |
| Still better than David Blair would have been. |
Or Fancy Nancy. |
OP here, that’s why I voted for Elrich. But now I’m starting to wonder. The regular democratic apparatus is not backing him up like I thought. Or perhaps more accurately, he’s chosen not to go with long-time local subject matter experts. We need an HHS Director for one. |
NP and I think it’s the exact opposite. He’s promised to restructure the county govt and I see kind of the same old same old. I don’t think he realized how difficult it would be to change anything. He’s going to be another Leggett. |

I don't understand Marc Elrich or his base.
Why doesn't he want any more housing? I dislike gentrification as much as the next "Woke" person but if you stop all housing altogether you're just going to make prices go up even more. And I've heard from certain urbanist blogs that Elrich is in fact not progressive and wants to protect wealthy homeowners and their property values, but this doesn't make sense either, because places like Potomac and West Bethesda and Chevy Chase voted for Blair, not Elrich. Elrich got the vote in left-leaning places like Takoma Park and Silver Spring, but isn't this where people actually do want more housing? It just seems like he's screwing over his progressive base in favor of single family homeowners who didn't even support him. |
| If he can keep Hogan’s beltway plan from taking houses and parkland (Hogan promised no houses). I will be happy |
| Now he lost the jail warden. It’s like a mass exodus. |
|
I didn't vote for him and fully understand MoCo will never have a Republican manager at the helm.
Your thread gives me hope members of his party will help him handle the reins: acknowledging a problem is the first step. |
Why? The roads will still be full and Waze will still re-route people through our neighborhood. I want signs for local traffic only during rush hours in my neighborhood. We need another crossing further away yesterday. Keep kicking the can though, it seems to be working well for the politicians. |

Add another department head failure. This guy withdrew from the DTS appointment after Council grilled him with no mercy.
https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/government/county-technology-services-cabinet-nominee-withdraws-name/ Elrich is similar to Trump in failure to appoint department directors. |
