MENTS throughout.
Hi, everyone. I had my first u/s yesterday at 6w2d. Everything measured right on track but with a heart rate of 104 bpm. To keep me from freaking out, my RE warned that while this is on the low-end of normal, it’s still normal. But of course, I’m still freaking out, especially because I have a history of recurrent loss. I’ve seen a lot of conflicting information online (some sites say anything above 100 is normal; others shoot for 120+). My next u/s is slated for one week. If anyone has positive stories regarding a slow fetal HB in the beginning, I’d really appreciate hearing them. I’m feeling really down today. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. |
| I wouldn't call that a slow fetal heartbeat. Also, a day or two at this age makes a huge difference. The heart literally started beating days ago. I would not worry. Are you going back in a week for another ultrasound? That will give you much More info, but as you’ll learn with kids there’s always worries. |
| Over 100 is fantastic. Some can't even find a heartbeat quite this early.. I don't think a 102 at 6 weeks 2 days would be considered slow. Take deep breaths and try to enjoy this milestone. |
| OP here. Thank you both so much. I really appreciate you chiming in and helping ease my anxieties. I’ve had 3 miscarriages, so unfortunately, I’m on edge all the time! I’m really going to take your advice to heart and just breathe. |
| how did this turn out, OP? |
| OP here. Turned out fine. Due in 4 weeks. |

Thanks so much!

That is awesome!!! Congrats and I'm jealous that you only have 4 weeks ... I still have 10. Sigh.
Before I realized that this was an old thread, I was going to write that this whole process is such an up and down journey that you really aren't out until you're out. Glad everything worked out! |
| Don’t worry. My kids hearts started beating on different days. One I head at 5w2d and the other wasn’t even there at 5w5d. The heart literally could have just started. Please don’t worry! |
