I want to sell my (heavy) DSLR camera and several lenses, but I don't want to have to sell it myself (on Craigslist or whatever). Can anyone tell me about their experiences at B&H, Adorama, KEH, etc.? Is there one that pays out more than the others? Any issues sending stuff through the mail? Any advice? Thanks! |
I haven't sold through the places you listed, but I did get a quote from the very well-known camera shop in town (I'm not in DC), and they offered signficantly less than what I was able to sell for on Craigs List. Selling on CL was a pain though - lots of weirdos and scammers bc the $ amount was high. |
BH is ok, but what you're selling will greatly dictate what you'll be offered for it. If it's still "current", you'll get a lot more money for used DSLR bodies than if it's several years old. I wanted to get rid of a D70s a few years ago, and they only offered $20. Uh, no thanks, I'll just keep it at that point.
Lenses are another matter. Those are valued on features and condition. You'll lose less money on a lens over time than you will on a body. Craigslist is pretty much all scammers now. They've essentially killed Craigslist, which I find to be poetic justice, since Craigslist got rid of personal ads. |
i went that BH and CL route years agao and got the scammers and BH and KEh allw anted to give me 25-50% of the value of what they would sel the camera for.
i tried a few times here and there on CL but inthe end it just sits. id have no issues sending anything through the mail. just box it securely and insure. I was tryingto sell a canon t1i with several tamronlenses. Been looking at buying another lens and really uping the game, but th next step is like 1-2K for a lens and I got better things to waste money on. |
You can search sold listings on eBay to see what it they go for. |
