| She hasn’t been as concerned before despite dc encouraging cycling http://www.elissasilverman.com/newsletter_a_personal_note |
Seriously? You're being critical? That was an awesome note and Silverman is probably one of the strongest bike advocates on the Council. She gets at the crux of the issue: the city doesn't take the safety issues seriously because the senior leaders of City Council, the Mayor's office, and MPD are addicted to their cars to get across our city. |
So why did she seem less concerned before ? |
She addresses that in her note. |
and you are fine with that? |
|
Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
I think there needs to a complete overhaul on how we treat bikes and now electric scooters in the city. We need dedicated lanes for both. |
I found the note compelling. Now the question is will it be followed up with action. |
|
I think anyone who thinks that bike lanes and bike safety is only the province of gentrifying white folks has never seen how many young Hispanic gentlemen in either construction clothes or kitchen togs are riding to and from work.
|
she only cares when she realized non whites ride bikes too |
Womp womp |
| Councilmembers are our "vision zero" mayor talk a good game. But DC is an outlier among larger city police departments without even a dedicated traffic safety/enforcement division or unit. Why not put more focus around this? |
I think they think it's just life in the city--you roll the dice?? That seems to be their nonchalant attitude to any/all quality of life issues where the city would actually need to do work for the people (in this case policing and enforcing traffic norms) |
Elissa is a great councilwoman. Makes me proud to be a DC resident. +1 |
She makes Bernie seem like Milton Friedman. On basic economics, Elissa hasn’t got a clue. |
