Starter level for 7.5 yr old in Moco (Kensington/Chevy Chase)

Hi All,

I am looking for some entry level soccer options for my son. I know of some availability with MSA but am wondering if there are others I could/should consider, and whether you would recommend MSA? (Not looking for anything crazy competitive - just fun, with a focus on good sportsmanship.)

Thanks!

You should really consider MSI Recreation.

Why? What do you like/recommend about MSI versus any others?

MSI has the largest Rec program in the area with leans located everywhere in MoCo.

At this age, pick the club:

a) practicing closest to your house in the traffic during rush hour.
b) a team that has several of his school or neighborhood friends on it.

i agree with this. Make it the most fun as possible with the least amount of inconvenience

Let him play with friends, club development philosophy does not influence the younger rec programs. They are almost always parent coached and at that age it's about the basics of receiving and passing.

MSI Recreation will place your child on a team closest to their school (so with friends/nearby kids). If you are lucky, they will move together up to Classic in 4th or 5th grade. This way you ease into the craziness (Recreation - games on Saturdays, one practice per week for an hour; Classic - games on Saturdays or Sundays, practice twice a week, could be 60 or 90 minutes, Travel - games all over/different states, Saturdays and Sundays, practice 3 times per week for a very long time!).
