post-egg retrieval pain - TMI warning

I just got home from my egg retrieval and am resting in bed with some tolerable pelvic pain and cramping, not a big deal. However, I occasionally get these shooting pains in my rectum - they come and go. Is this normal? If you've gotten these, how long did they last?

Also wondering about constipation - anyone have any problems after retrieval?

Hi there - I had my ER on Wednesday and I'm still battling the constipation problem. So much so that I've ingested tons and tons of fiber and colace and it hasn't helped things. I talked w/my nurse and she said that constipation is very common post ER from the pain meds, anesthesia and also the added progesterone you are taking.

As far as the rectum pains, you should probably call your nurse/RE about that one. From what I know that is NOT normal.

Thanks for the reply! The pain has gone away, thank heavens - must have just been a post-op thing. However, as in your situation, the constipation is lingering. Ugh. I've been dosing on the Colace, too...hoping this doesn't last too long.

The constipation is crippling for me. Usually the 3-4th day after are the worst for me (can't stand up straight, button pants, etc). Next ER I'm going to majorly OD on colace before the fact in hopes of preventative medicine. Drink lots of water too, I hear that helps. Good Luck.
