| My DD is 16 years old and is looking for volunteer opportunities that have to do with animals. Her background is in horses (experienced rider, and has worked in a barn before) but she is open to working with all kinds of animals and has some experience with other species too. As I will likely have to be driving her, somewhere no more than 45 minutes away would be ideal (we live in Bethesda). |
| Zoo, vet clinic, humane society, aquarium |
| Walking dogs at animal rescue groups / dog shelters. I know that you can do that at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue in Arlington, but there are probably several dog rescue groups in your area. Google. Also look on VolunteerMatch. |

Most therapeutic riding programs need volunteers to help with disabled kids and animals (lead horses, sidewalk with horses, etc.)
Some programs are Great and Small Lift me Up Maryland Therapeutic Riding |

The therapeutic riding program at Potomac Horse Center takes volunteers and may be closest to you. They basically lead the horse.
Another thing my daughter has done is to foster through Wolf Trap under my supervision. She’s done four puppies and seen them through being adopted and does most of the work. It has been rewarding but you have to be willing to have the animal in your house. |
| Nieghborhood dog walker/cat sitter. She--not you!--should post on the neighborhood list serv. She should offer very competitive pricing bc she may be competing against professionals. |

Animal shelter and animal clinics are a no. They require you to be 18 bc animals can be dangerous and can inflict injury and their insurance isn’t going to allow it.
Animal clinic receptionist might be a possibility if she is interested in full year part time work Smaller animal rescues might be an option if yuh are also willing to help out along side her. Or she can help with fundraising or admin type stuff |

How about an animal sanctuary? There are several in Maryland.
