what to wear with pants and shoes (work?)

I have the pointy (but not too pointy) shoes with some heel to wear at work with slacks/pants.. now that it's getting colder i bought shoes with backs (otherwise they were open). what am i supposed to wear with them? they are black- let's say black slacks- do i wear trouser socks (thin - like hose)- in black? nude? help..the shoes are almost like heels that i think thicker regular trouser socks (thicker) may not look well.. but then i am posting for help so what do i know- thanks

OP here- i work in a business formal to business casual- so either slacks and nice "serious" blouse or jacket and slacks - hardly ever wear skirts..

OP, match the hosiery to either the shoe or the pant. Doing so elongates the entire leg and makes you appear taller.

As to wearing a sock or something more sheer, it depends upon how dressy the outfit. Something more casual, wear something more opaque. Dressier (esp. the shoe) needs something more sheer.

About matching to shoes or pants- if the shoes are black- and say pants are brown- is it better to go with the blakc or brown?

also- any ideas of where to get sheer trouser socks?
