I'm not much of a baker and don't have a go-to dessert recipe. Does anyone have some easy recipes or ideas they can share? TIA. |
Rice Krispie treats. |
Cookies or brownies or bars of some sorts ares easiest. |
Fancy bakery donuts repacked. They’ll be the first to sell. |
Buy a couple of boxes of Duncan Hines family size brownies. Easy, low cost and maximum profitability. |
Just hand out pre-wrapped star crunches. Its 2019. |
Munchkins from Dunkin' Donuts. Or, Pillsbury cookies baked at home. |
What are you working with? Do you have a stand, or a hand mixer? Nothing at all?
If the latter, do a brownie mix or buy something. If you do brownies, buy a roll of parchment paper and cut a strip to fit the bottom and sides of your pan (as in, if it's a square pan you can have two sides with nothing, the bottom covered, and the same piece coming up over the two sides. It might sound fussy but it is fully worth it because you can just slide a knife along the two uncovered sides, pop the whole thing out to cool as if it were a cake, then it's much easier to cut it up and package the slices for the bake sale. This is a really good brownie recipe that doesn't require a mixer if you're willing to fuss with melting the chocolate. To really do it right, get nice chocolate "chips" from the cheese section at Whole Foods (might be Callebaut or Valrohna), like maybe a 70% or even 55%. You can do the chocolate and the butter in the microwave but just do it slowly and carefully because chocolate "burns" at a pretty low temperature and then it's ruined. Don't microwave until it's all melted - just keep taking it out, stirring it and letting it sit for a bit to see if the residual heat is enough to finish it. https://www.marthastewart.com/314726/fudgy-chocolate-brownies |
Brownie recipes that use just cocoa powder instead of melting chocolate are easy, I would say as easy as a mix. But I agree brownies.
Otherwise--my mom used to shortcut choc chip cookies by spreading the dough without chips in a pan then scattering the chips on top, I think she swirled the melted chips when the pan came out of the oven. Peanut-butter rice krispie bars--1 c sugar, 1 c corn syrup boiled till the sugar is all dissolved, add 1 c peanut butter, mix in the rice krispies, spread in buttered pan, throw choc chips on while hot and spread them once they melt. |

we called it oatmeal fudge, when I was a kid and my mom said "I'm hungry for something but I don't know what. . . " 30 minutes later these would be cooling on the counter. very simple, very good, and no actual baking |
Just as long as you don't let cats on your counter, OP. Otherwise, go with the prepackaged bakery goods. |
Pot brownies |
Gluten free almond muffins |
Duncan Hines is trash and tastes like cheap cocoa. At least do the Ghirardelli mix. |
I live in San Francisco, and nobody ever buys the Ghiradelli mix out here. Little kids like the taste of crap. |
