We have a turntable, speakers and receiver that we inherited a few years ago. The turntable has stopped working (turning too slowly?) Is it worth fixing or should we get a newer unit? We are also considering updating our speakers. We are ok with bluetooth but not voice activated stuff. We rent a small condo so wiring is out/not needed.
Any setup suggestions are welcome. Looking to spend $500 or less |
What is it worth? Record players are obsolete, so any you find these days are either antiques or niche for the audiophile group.
If it has potential value to appeal to either crowd, then you should get it fixed. If, however, it's like an old RCA from the 80's, then just buy a newer one since the parts for it will be easier to find if it breaks ten years from now. |
Just get a soundbar. It will fit in nicely below the Tv and take up very little space. Most have bluetooth. You can get a lot for your money these days:

I would dump the records unless you have some you actually plan to listen to. You can get a new record player at best buy, but make sure it is able to connect to your setup. Records players can have phono, rca, or bluetooth connections. I would try to find one that has bluetooth out. |
