DD is 12 and is transitioning out of kids clothes and a lot of her friends wear Ambercrombie or Hollister.
I feel like AE is a little more budget friendly hit the same style. I also like their business practices better. She says it’s cheap and no one wears the brand. Is this true? |
Probably depends on the school. My daughter wears American Eagle/Arrie. She shops with her friends so I’m trying to think about what she brings home. I think she goes to Altar’d State, PacSun, and definitely Lululemon. |
She is going to want to wear what other girls in her school are wearing. My 12 year old wears AE but that is what her friends are buying. Let her shop with her friends and see what things cost. It may start to swing her towards the less expensive option. |
Too bad for my kids. They see me shopping in second hand shops and eBay to get quality clothes for a decent prices. Mall shopping only if on super sale. |
AE jeans fit my DD best so it's the only brand she'll buy. |
My 14 yr. old freshman DD definitely wears AE/aerie, as do all of her friends. |
It’s not particularly cheap for tween/teen clothing. |
What about Aeropostale? |
Yes, my DD loves their jeans. Can usually get them for $25-$35 on sale. |
DD is 16 and wears Aerie underwear. It's not cheap.
DD loves Brandy Melville and PacSun, and a little Forever 21. |
My 14 yo DD likes AE, Aeropostale & Lululemon.
She doesn't like Forever 21 because she says the quality is cheap & falls apart. |
My 7th grader does like American Eagle. Her other favorites are Brandy Melville, PacSun, some Target, Old Navy for swimsuits, some Forever 21, and lululemon (but she doesn't have much of it). |
Aerie underwear frequently goes on sale 10/$35 |
AE is DD 13’s brand of choice. Her school has a broad range of incomes, though. It feels pricey to me, because we don’t wait for sales (DD has significant social anxiety, so it’s worth it to me).
She understands that we “fill in” her wardrobe with pieces from Old Navy, and she’s comfortable with that. We do jeans (fit is important) and most sweaters, etc, from AE, and layering tees, etc, from ON. She has summer tees she really likes from both Gap and ON. |
DD works at AE so yes, she wears it. Also Abercrombie, Hollister, and Altar’d State. |
