Need help with wardrobe budget

Anonymous
When I was working as an attorney at a large firm and had no kids I became accustomed to spending a lot of money on clothes. Now that I am temporarily staying at home I need to downsize and shop at more reasonably priced stores. Some of the brands I like include Vince, Rebecca Taylor, Ella Moss, and most brands carried at Anthropologie. Where can I find similar clothes but not quite as expensive. I shop for basics at Jcrew but would prefer to not get my entire wardrobe there. I'm also struggling with shoes. I'm very slim and it seems like the more expensive European boots fit me so much better. Anyway, would really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

Does Bluefly.com carry those brands? I'm thinking they probably would, and the prices are good. No other suggestions, sorry - you're more high-fashion than I am. (I used to be somewhat fashionable and I've kind of given up since I had a kid and nobody ever really sees me anyway.)

I have great luck at Loehmans. I like the brands you reference. However, if you are now a SAHM, I would suggest the following:

A few great pairs of jeans
a pair or tall boots and a pair of short boots, but pay 100 not 400 plus for them. They will get more beat up now that you are at home
Since you are slim, a pair of black leggings and a nice wrap sweater or two
long sleeve tshirts (Gap/Jcrew, etc)
A few cashmere sweaters and cardigans
Since you are slim, a great leather belt to wear with jeans and slim cut corduroys in the fall and boots/sweater
You can mix in some of your work things with jeans and still look stylish (i.e. a great blouse with jeans, or a slim cut blazer)
a few pairs or ballet shoes or driving mocs
a great handbag (you likely have)

I think you should look at the "how much would you pay for a skirt" thread and commission the woman who shot back, "no more than 30 bucks" as your personal shopper. She will find you a beautiful wardrobe made of quality pieces on a great budget.
