FCV 2007 Question

Anonymous
I have a question for anyone familiar with the 2007G FCV group. What is going on? If you look at the team playing in the VPL they have lost almost all their games and are listed in youthsoccerrankings as 44th in Virginia. And the scores indicate they are not competitive in any of the games. Losing 8-1 in many of them to some teams that are not known as being powerhouses. If you look at the team playing NCSL they are 3rd in the state and beat the McLean 2007 team which I know is a very good team. I thought the better team is supposed to play VPL and the NCSL team is supposed to be their second team. I've heard rumors of play ups and girls from this age playing on a boys team. Can anyone familiar with this age group provide some insight? Took DD to ID session and everyone was very hush hush. It would be a drive for us so I'm not interested in walking into a dysfunctional situation.

FCV's top players are probably in DA or have left for Loudoun ECNL or Barca.

The 2007 top team is playing up in the 2006 division of NPL. Like all ID camps, parents are hash hash that have been with the club.

Watch The Karate Kid. If Cobra Kai seems like a good Dojo for your DD then FCV is a great fit for you.

This is what stands out to me from the OP post -

"I'm not interested in walking into a dysfunctional situation"

You are looking at the wrong club.

The FCV 07 team - that will be the "quasi-DA" team next fall - is indeed playing up an age group this year. Since DA has a U13 league in our region, the team will not have to play NPL next year and can play against other DA teams, so the competition will be better. The 07 group has a lot of talent currently. FCV as a club is dysfunctional at times and is going through some coaching changes, albeit mainly at the non-DA levels. They are very results-oriented (win loss results) and will therefore look to bring in better talent every year to the possible detriment of existing players. It is cutthroat and highly competitive, but also (at least as of now) has some of the best talent in NoVa. So, there is a tradeoff you'd have to be comfortable with before going there and spending the extra $$$ and commute. Only you can determine what is a good fit for your kid.

Loudoun has one team in the top half of any division. FCV is a top club nationally. Please stop.
