Is this a pipe dream?

I'm looking for a hair stylist that:

a) doesn't tell me I NEED highlights
b) doesn't tell me that my current shampoo is bad and that I need to buy a salon shampoo
c) doesn't try to convince me to get a conditioning treatment for my fine, thin but shiny hair
d) doesn't give me the "mom haircut"

In other words, I want someone who cuts hair well, who can suggest an appropriate style for my hair type and face shape.

The last person I went to tried to convince me to get a perm. Seriously. How '80s is that?!?

Yeah. Rafik at Salon Rafik won't do any of those things and will cut your hair any way you want. But his haircut is expensive -- 80 I think. But he is never, ever pushy. He won't even ask you what shampoo you are using.

Vidal Sassoon any stylist. Expensive as hell, but I always get a good cut fast and no bs. I color my hair at home so as not to pay for 2 services.

Lisa at Salon Cielo in Dupont. She always listens. My hair has never looked better. She might suggest product or highlights or whatever, but she is just telling me what she thinks and puts no pressure on me whatsoever. For me, she does single process color every 4-6 weeks to cover gray, cuts every other time and does a few highlights around my face every 2-4 times, depending on how it's grown out.

What location, OP?

I go to Bang Salon at Verizon Center and nobody there has ever tried to sell me any products or additional services. You can look at staff profiles on their site and see who they recommend for "edgy" cuts and then go to them - they're unlikely to give you a mom haircut. I'd give you the name of my stylist, but I'm not very happy with her today for cutting off 3 more inches than she said she would! (it's a cute cut, but I can't put it up for workouts and that was literally my ONLY requirement for a haircut. i hate having hair in my face, especially sweaty hair.)
