First month off the pill. Test or wait?

Just went off the pill in early March. If I was on the pill, I would have gotten my period today, but I know it can take awhile for cycles to return to normal. At what point do you suggest I take a pregnancy test?

Wait this cycle out. If that's too hard, wait at least a week.

For what it's worth, my OB told me to use condoms for two months until my period organized itself after being on the Pill for years. If you haven't talked to an OB you may want to.

Did he/she say why? Mine didn't say anything about it. I went off the pill once a few years ago and periods came right back as normal, though I don't remember if it was right on schedule or a little late. But definitely not months late.

My ob told me to wait / use condoms so I could let my cycles regulate so I could try to time sex to ovulation and to make an eventual pregnancy easier to date.

We used condoms, but I never got my period regularly. Got one at 3 months. At 6 months off the pill I hadn’t gotten another. We used progesterone to trigger a period and then clomid to trigger ovulation and that month (my first month I ovulated and didn’t use a condom) I got pregnant.

When I came off the pill, it took me 2 months to get a period back. When I came off NuvaRing, it was about 40 or 45 days. I would advise waiting. Some bodies take time to readjust to producing their own hormones post-birth control.

I went off the first week of may and was pregnant the first week of June. Had baby in feb. discovered at 4 mos PP that despite the mini pill and exclusive breastfeeding- I was pregnant again. 13 mos after my first gave birth a second time. So I guess my first off pull period was like 2 years after I went off the pull Hahahah

Do you know if you ovulated? I asked my doctor about using condoms, and she said the only reason that is recommended is to make a pregnancy easier to date. So we started trying right away and I got pregnant that first cycle. So, go ahead and take a test!

I’d wait a few days, unless you have a good idea that you ovulated at least 10 days ago. Cycles after hormonal Bc can be really varied - I had a 23 day cycle followed by a 37 day cycle (and many, many negative pregnancy tests) before mine regulated. Otherwise it just might be a waste of money.
