| what is needed to get into this? |
| That sounds great. Get me a time machine. |
| These programs usually require the student to do/complete/maintain the exact same things that would be required to gain admission to medical school independently. |
Don't know about the VCU program, but one of the attractions of most of these programs is shaving off a year of schooling from the 8 usually needed for undergrad + med school. |
| I know one person who was admitted to a guaranteed medical program. He also was admitted to Harvard (undergrad only) and took that option. This is to give you an idea of how competitive these programs are. |
| Op - the student has to be so extraordinary. Apply. Get back to us when you get in. |
Just make sure the kid keeps up his grade. My brother was admitted to one of these guaranteed medical programs, got a bad grade in organic chemistry and then was no longer able to continue in the program. So he ended up with a degree from a lesser school with no guaranteed medical program when he could have graduated from an Ivy with the same outcome. |

Pitt has one of these, too.
And that's no slouch medical school. |
