Our school has Local Level IV.
We will be fine if our kid gets selected in local level IV as he got denied center placement. We just know general ed would not be sufficient for our kid. We will also work on appealing. My question is when do principal decide local level IV placements. Can he place for this coming year 2019-2020. Also how different would be education for the kid who is placed by principal vs placed by center in the base school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
| I would think the principal cannot decide until after May 3 which is when decisions are due. All kids in the class will get the same education. The key question is how do you appeal to the principal to be included among those principal placed? |

I would schedule a meeting with the AART to discuss your child's packet and strategies for appeal. You could also bring up the idea of LLIV with the AART and find out whether you need to submit a referral for LII-III to get into the principal placement pool.
I don't think you need to worry, though. They're going to look first at the kids who they already screened for LIV when making principal placements. |

Thank you both for your suggestions. Appreciate it!
I am thinking of scheduling a meeting with both principal and AART teacher to see our options. |

My DD was pupil placed in the Local LIV class.
What I did was ask the AART to please consider her for Level III services for the following school year. She was placed in the local class and has been there since 3rd grade. She is now finishing her 5th grade. |
