What are the chances?

sex on saturday, OPK on Wednesday night (didn't test again to see if I got another one the following day), sex again that saturday. I'm wondering if I should be treating this as a two-week wait or if I can safely say we didn't really try this cycle? Wondering if I'm safe to have a couple of glasses of wine this Saturday or not. thoughts?

I would say very unlikely, but not impossible.

If you had a + OPK on Wed night, you probably ovulated on Thursday or Friday. So the sex on Saturday (I'm assuming in the evening) after ovulation is most likely too late - the egg only lives for 12-24 hours. However, you didn't test on Thursday so it's possible you have a long LH surge and didn't ovulate until some time on Friday, and if you had sex on Saturday morning, there may be a chance.

Regarding the previous Saturday, there is a chance but it's slim. Yes, sperm *can* live up to 5 days, but that is only in optimal conditions (i.e., good fertile cervical mucous, etc.) AND even then, only the best/hardiest sperm can live that long (many men do not have any sperm that would survive that long even in good conditions). Most of the time, 24-48 hours is the longest they would survive.

So I personally wouldn't be extra careful in the 2ww, but I won't say there's zero chance of pregnancy. Stranger things have happened!

Agree with PP - not likely, but a there is a tiny possibility.

And, if you have wine, no big deal. A glass of wine is not going to impact the baby during your tww. For most of that time, the embryo is not attached to you yet, so nothing passes from your blood to the baby.

I think most of us could tell stories about drinking during the tww (even those of us who used a lot of science to get pregnant).

I'd say unlikely as well, but don't entirely dismiss the possibility. DH and I had sex on a Monday and I ovulated on a Friday and still got pregnant. It happens. I was charting and using OPKs then, too, so I am certain of this. I was not confident at all, but was delightfully surprised two weeks later when I got my BFP.

OP here - OK, so what are the chances that the positive digital CBE test I just took is wrong???????? I was counting on the outcome being different!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm excited in a "holy crap" sort of way, but Iwas banking on putting off "Really" TTC for two more months or so. The only reason I took the OPK was to see if I was ovulating - I've been nursing an infant and wasn't sure I was even ovulating....

Those tests are pretty darn accurate so it looks like you're pregnant.
