Jeff,

Please tell me how it’s okay for someone to state that “certain people should be removed from the city,” (meaning poor, black folks), yet you delete a response calling this racist, fascist poster an asshole lunatic? It’s not okay to call a spade a spade, but it’s okay for racist dog whistles to be blown on your site?

Why not just report the offensive post instead of giving it more attention?

I removed the post calling another poster an asshole lunatic because that post called another poster an asshole lunatic. I'm surprised that wasn't obvious. If you have issues with other posts, use the report button. That's how I found out about the post I removed in the first place.

Also, please don't waste my time asking why I removed a post that called another poster an asshole lunatic.

Because I can't possibly read every post. I rely on users to report inappropriate posts.

Okay, Jeff. It’s your site. You do what you want. It just seems wrong to me to keep racist crap on your site, but delete posts calling out racists—even if words like asshole and lunatic are used. Colorful language makes life less boring, you know, even if a racist ass gets offended by it (as if everyone has a right to not be offended).

He's saying that he removed that post because someone REPORTED it.

He already said that he doesn't have time to weed through every single post to find the one you're complaining about. If you want the other post to be removed too, you have to report it instead of just complaining about it here.

I understand I could've reported the racist poster. I was happy enough giving him a tongue-lashing instead. I don't see eye-to-eye with Jeff on what constitutes inappropriate behavior on his site. I don't think a racist ass has an inalienable right to not be offended: the racist doesn't appreciate being called an asshole lunatic? Too bad! But again, it's Jeff's site, and he can do what he wants.
