Best soccer summer camp for U9?

Can anyone recommend a really good summer soccer camp in DC for a U9 rec player who would like to try out for travel soccer in the fall? Decent player, but has been in rec leagues and has hitherto not received very strong coaching.

You don't tryout for travel in the fall. You tryout for a travel team this spring. Just ot clarify the timeline.

Look for Coerver Soccer camps camps. they do a good job of working with all skill levels at younger age groups on the fundamentals. Golden Boot is good and HP is also excellent if you are nearby.

You should be looking at travel teams now and attending ID sessions if they are offered. If you get selected to the team in May/June, look to see if they have a camp in the Summer so you can train with the new teammates.

If you don't get selected, look for a camp with another team that might still have openings. Impress at camp and they may offer you a spot.

Agree with Coerver. That will get the most touches on the ball and help with footwork.

In Denver we’ve done SIQ Camps and that helps with positioning, possession. No idea if there’s something similar in DC area but maybe look at the description and see if you can find something among those lines. https://siqacademy.com/wintertraining

And even if your DD doesn’t make a top team, if the clubs there are like ours, the increased practice time and coaches who aren’t volunteer parents will make a difference for the following year—we also see movement between fall and spring. Good luck!

My son plays with Achilles FC. They run a great camp in NW DC (St. Johns College High School). Check out information below.

Sal Caccavale Soccer Academy has been running summer camps in the DMV for over 10 years and continues to grow every year! Summer camp is a fun and inclusive environment for kids of all ages and skill levels. While all of our campers come to have fun, the reason our camp is different and better than other soccer camps around the area is due to the training environment and the improvement campers will make throughout the summer.

Campers range from 6-19 years old and all attend camp with the same goal - to have fun and get better! We have an amazing coaching staff that have all played college or professional soccer that interact with players throughout the morning and even hop in some of the afternoon games! It’s truly a family environment at Sal’s Summer Camp! Our camp involves technical development, a ton of gameplay, weekly awards, and a lot of fun! Kids will really enjoy the atmosphere our camp offers and will be wanting to come back for more. To find out more information on Sal's Summer Camp or to register, please visit salsoccer.com.

OP,
Some of the tryouts have already taken place. You should check around now. Achilles is a good place to start. I think I saw a Stoddert tryout email a few days ago.

Maret's camp is run by their boys varsity coach, who also is a Stoddert travel coach. It's supposed to be a good camp.
