Replacing front rotors, need to replace rear ones too?

Anonymous
My 2012 Honda Odyssey shudders quite a bit while braking. It's very annoying and I'm getting ready to replace the front rotors to hopefully deal with this issue. Now I wonder if the rear rotors should be replaced as well? Online it seems like most people only replace the fronts.

Depends on what kind of shape they're in. Front end brakes normally take much more of a beating.

I consider the front and back separately. No need to do anything with the rear brakes if they are not a problem. Of course, if you are having someone you trust doing the work, have them inspect the rear brakes and make whatever repairs they expect to be needed in the next 6-12 months.

Fronts definitely do more braking and require more service.

Thank you PPs. I decided to buy the rear rotors as well and I'll change them if they look worn. Fingers crossed that this solves the issue.

If you warped the first set of rotors, you'll probably warp the second too.

Rotors don't really "look" worn. Measure them.
