Has anyone experienced a club where they have a fee just to try out? Is that normal?

Bethesda Soccer charges $25 to register for tryouts for U11 and above.

Yes indeed. The wealthy play on all the fancy FC teams and travel and stay in hotels. The poor kids can’t and don’t. When people talk about how the US can’t get up to speed on the global stage in soccer, this pay-to-play, exclusionary model is a big part of the problem
