We just received a note from Potomac Pediatrics that they are doing walk in H1N1 clinics for high risk and kids under 5 but they also stated only for the 1st shot. They said they will have boosters in a few weeks. This makes it sound like the booster is a different dose. Is this true or are they simply trying to prioritize the vaccine in their office?
We were planning on taking our kids to a public clinic for the 2nd shot if they didn't offer it but now wondering whether we need to hunt for special booster doses. |
| I have been told it is the same shot. |
| Same exact shot. Another way of them trying to ration so that everyone has the chance to get the first as soon as possible. |
| Actually, for my 5 year old they told me that her booster would be half the amount that she had in the original shot. The booster amount will for the 5 year old will be same amount that my 16 month old received in her first shot and will receive again in her booster. |
if that's the case i wonder why my pediatricians office told me they only had vaccines left for kids under age 3. my 4 year old needs a booster which would probably be the younger kid dose.... |
I received the same info from my ped. I think they are supposed to be saving those individually packaged infant doses for the under 3 crowd because of the lack of thimerisol and these are packaged just for them. |
I don't think this is right. I think it is the same shot the second time around. See: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/pdf/monovalent_vaccine_dosage_chart.pdf |
