can my teen drive in Virginia with a learner's permit from Maryland?

I've seen some websites that say Virginia allows out of state teens to drive in Virginia with only a learner's permit but I can't find confirmation anywhere on the Virginia DMV website. Can anyone point me to a place that confirms that it is ok for my teen with a MD learner's permit to drive (with me in the front seat) in VA?

Yes. But make sure he or she knows where the turn signals are, and how to use them.

I don't know where you'd find that information, but wanted to share that our car was hit very hard (thankfully while parked when we weren't in it) by a teenager driving with an adult and an out of state permit. The adult contacted us later and shared that he had a very difficult time with insurance because of the out of state permit.
