Travel agents?

We're planning an anniversary trip to the Caribbean (probably Anguilla) this February. It's high season, and ridiculously expensive at face value, but we're hoping to get a deal given the general state of the economy. Anyone know whether a travel agent is in the best position to help us with this? Web consolidators? Any recommendations?
