Please recommend good digital antenna

Anonymous
hi everyone,
I am planning on cutting the cord and just getting the $ 39.99 per month internet deal with Verizon Fios. Could you recommend a good digital antenna I could use to get basic TV stations and where I can buy it?
Thanks!

Assuming you are in DC, then do you have a window near your TV facing Bethesda? Then buy a Mohu leaf and stick it in the window. If you are in a more rural area, then buy a clearstream 4 and stick it in a window facing wherever your TV transmitters are.

Don't buy one of those antennas where the wires are connected to the antenna. You have to hang the antenna right by the TV with those kind, and that may not be the best placement to get good reception. Get one where you screw the cable into the antenna, like the Mohu leaf.

Where you place the antenna is really really important. If you place it on an interior wall, facing north, and the TV transmitter towers are west of you, you are going to receive zero or very few channels. You need to place the antenna where it can grab the reception. The optimum placement is to have the antenna outside and up high and facing the transmitter towers.

There are a couple web sites that help you figure out where the TV transmitters are. One is TV fool. Another is antenna web. The best one is operated by the FCC: https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps

To see what channels and shows you would get with an antenna, go to Titan TV. Put in your zip code. Titan TV is like a TV guide for over the air TV shows.

We got a TV antenna a year ago. It's awesome to know that we will never ever have to pay to watch TV again. We live in a rural area (Florida / Alabama border) so we bought the clearstream 4 and have it hanging in a window. I have it suspended on a tension curtain rod in the window. We get 45 channels. We get ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, weather. We get 8 channels of PBS from two different locations. We get 10 channels of preachers.
