Please help-new to area..been ttc for 6 months, 4 days late and neg preg test.. no OB's available

Hello,
I just relocated to the area and am desperately trying to find an OB. I have been ttc for about 6 months and am 4 days late for my period, took a test that came back neg. I am high risk pregnancy and have tried getting appts with Dr Jane Piness, Dr Sandra Caskie, and Dr Williams, none of which are available for about 6 months. Does anyone have an OB that they would recommend that isn't quite as booked?

I am almost 35 so it would be great to find someone who can address possible fertility issues in addition to high risk pregnancy.
Thanks!

Welcome. Dr. Collea, of G'town U Hospital, is quite brusque but a top-notch high risk OB. Generally it takes a few months to get in unless you have an emergency situation. Perhaps are you concerned that you could have an ectopic pregnancy? That would probably get you in the door rather quickly.

Try Reiter, Hill and Johnson

When I was a new patient with Desouza, he saw me within ten days of making the appointment for just an annual pelvic exam, so he might be able to get you in. Of course, this was a while ago and I know he's grown in popularity, but it can't hurt to call him. He's also a wonderful OB/GYN! Lots of women on this board sing his praises.

I would just get into any OB right away, then either get a referral if you need one or keep trying with the others down the road. I really like the doctors at Foxhall OB/GYN and they worked with us (directly and via referrals to specialists) with our own fertility challenges.

You are only 4 days late. Maybe the hormone levels aren't quite high enough. Test again in a few days. You could call some other OBs, but I know RHJ doesn't want you to come in for a blood test until after you've gotten a positive ITC reading.

I love my OBs and I was high risk too - Dr. Elliot and Dr. Sue Lashgari. Both are board certified. They work out of Arlington Hospital. Phone number is: 703-525-8800

I am almost glad you didn't get into Caskey's practice. While Caskey is great her co-partners are not. I had horrific lack of care from Williams and a close friend who is suffering from cronic pain after Williams screwed up her c-section. I've heard other terrible stories from other friends who used to go there...all related to Williams. I tell every friend I can to avoid that practice.

Another vote for Dr. Lashgari in Arlington, she is great!!

I would recommend seeing an RE instead of OB/Gyn for fertility issues. OK to see OB/Gyn at first of course but alot of OB/Gyns try to treat fertility issues and just aren't equipped and will waste your time.

As far as being 4 days late, do another test tomorrow and the day after and so on and don't panic - it will turn positive if you are pregnant. as far as getting in - if you book for a consultation instead of a new patient full physical you might get in sooner! I personally do not like reiter and hill at all. it also depends on where you live as you'd want to be fairly close to the practice, and you have to see which hospital you want - different docs are affiliated with different hospitals, for example reiter and hill are with sibley memorial in dc. as far as being high risk - you are not saying that because of age right? if you are truly high risk you may want someone that's affiliated with fairfax or somewhere where they have a high level nicu. as far as fertility issues, probably best to seek out a specialist for that, although your ob/gyn can order some of the tests, it's just better to do this all with a reproductive endocrinologist who will see both of you.
