The new LAA?

Now that it’s open, how is it? We were offered a spot starting in April.

Awesome! Beautiful indoors. The classes are space themed, which the kids seem to love. Nice new playground. Big windows in every room. No complaints here.

How expensive is it? Heard they pay better than other non profit daycares — how do they manage that?

Are you sure they are non profit? Does the owner just draw a salary? Maybe irrelevant to the question but I would be surprised if they are a non profit.

They are not non profit, yet pay more than nonprofits even when trying to make money. That’s why surprised it can pay better and make money.

LAA has the exact same tuition as our non-profit preschool.

Wonder how they do that and pay better and make rent?

Maybe our non-profit is way inefficient! But I thought labor was biggest cost?

They do not include meals, they have a 3x yearly materials fee, and a $400 registration fee. It's roughly $500/week to attend for a 4-5 year old child.

Their February inspection had a ratio violation:

"Based on observation, the center did not maintain a ratio of one staff member for every 10 children. Evidence: In the foxes classroom, one staff member was observed with 14 children. The other staff member was in the bathroom from 10:24am - 10:26am."

The 2-min gap is considered a violation? I am seriously asking.

Yes it is. It’s ridiculous

It’s...not ridiculous? Ratios are mandated by the county for a reason. One person is not supposed to supervise 14 kids. “Stay in ratio” is daycare administration 101.

Fire alarm during that bathroom break and it could go south fast.

I have a question for those with experience with their "toddler" campus - the website says that location does not have a playground and they use a local park.

Do you know how they supervise children getting to/ from the park and at the park? I know this is what many schools do, but that aspect worries me - we are on their waitlist among others... Thank you.

They use buggy’s and the teachers push the kids to and from the park. My kids both loved going on trips to the park!

Ah, that explains a lot of how they can pay teachers more.
