Good SUV for carpooling??

Anonymous
Hi, I have two kids but my neighborhood does a lot of carpooling so ai often have 3 kids in the car. I currently have a Ford Explorer with bench seating so that means there is no pass thru to the third row. And it makes having 4 kids in there basically impossible. Can anyone recommend an SUV that is good for what I need?

Confused. Why does the fact that your neighbor does a lot of carpooling = you often have 3-4 kids in your car instead of just your own 2? I would say a full sized SUV with captions chairs in the second row is ideal IMO

No OP but their post makes sense to me. They do a lot of carpooling so need space for the occasional extra kids.

There is a vehicles section where this is asked all the time.
Short answer Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot for normal budget.
Luxury suv all over the map for 80-100k suv.

You are indeed confused. Her answer is literally in the first sentence.

I don’t understand — bench seats fold down for access to 3rd row.

Are they all in car seats (which seems strange to carpool with that many kids that young).

NP. Then just say I do a lot of carpooling. Bringing up your neighbor is information that adds nothing to your question.

Op here- I said neighborhood not neighbor. Not sure the issue is with saying I only have two kids but tend to have more in the car due to lots of neighborhood carpooling. We dont have a school bus in our neighborhood.

Do you need or want a new SUV? The explorer is a great SUV and should be fine.

Our lease will be up soon... and I need one with a more accessbible third row. I do have a carseat and booster seats. Anyone have an Explorer with bucket seats??

We got a VW Atlas which has a roomy third row. The second row bench seating pivots forward for easy access to the third row (even with car seats or booster seats in place).

We love it. Fits 2 kids in the third row and 3 in the second row. Lots of cargo space too.

Also, it's reasonably priced.

Take the plunge and get a minivan. They are ridiculously awesome in terms of functionality.

The 2020 explorer will be a redesign but just get bucket seats. 19's are really nice. Test drove one a few weeks ago.

+1 for the Sienna. I never thought we would have a minivan. It is the best.
