I learned from DCUM back before the birth of my first kid that if you mail a baby announcement to the White House, you get a nice response card "from" the President and First Lady. I did that for my son, which was fortunately during the Obama administration. We got it framed and it's a cool keepsake that hangs in his room.
My second is due in a few weeks, and I'd like to do something similar for her, but I'm 100% not down with the current administration. So, I'm trying to think of an alternative. Anyone know of any other cool/notable figures that might reply to baby announcements? My only idea so far is Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Doesn't necessarily have to be political, I suppose. I did try the Pope last time, but never got a response. Not sure I'd really want that these days, anyway. |
Oh man I forgot about that! I'll just tell my second kid that we forgot to do it (which is true) |
You can do Disney world. |
What is the point? |
You can get video greetings from "celebrities" on Cameo:
https://www.cameo.com/ I learned of this on a trashy podcast I listen to. Seems fun & harmless (but you do need to pay). |
You can send it to the Obama Library. I sent my wedding announcement to Presidents Obama, W. Bush and Clinton, and got very nice responses from each President's office/library.
It doesn't have to be the sitting President to make it special! https://barackobama.com/greetings/ |
OP here. Excellent idea, thank you! |
NP and thank you for posting! I need to do this. My first was also born during the Obama administration and this one .... will not be unless something happens between now and September hah! |
OH MY GOD I AM GOING TO DO THIS FOR EVERYBODY I KNOW! I had no idea this was a thing! |
Brilliant! Thank you! |
What's the point of doing that? |
I dont get what the point is. It's not like it's actually from the President himself. |
Love this! So excited to know about it. |
