Tell me about your Hyundai Santa Fe

Anonymous
More and more, we are starting to realize we need a larger car. I prefer an SUV to a minivan (because obviously - I'm a suburban mom after all), so I'm looking at three row SUVs. The Santa Fe seems to have great options for a really affordable price. Just curious what you all think about your own Santa Fe. How long have you had it? Do you like it? What do you love/what do you hate? Tell me everything!

We had a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe (bought 2 years old in 2007) and a 2003 Camry. I know some people love it but I hated the Santa Fe. Loud on the highway, felt chintzy inside, nothing special. Our Camry felt luxurious comparatively and needed much less work. The paint also chipped all along the roof by the end, whereas the Camry is fine.

We recently sold the Santa Fe and got a newish Toyota Highlander, which I love. Would not buy another Santa Fe.

I get the feeling that Hyundai (and Kia for that matter) have really improved their quality recently. Did you drive a newer Santa Fe when you got the Highlander? I have to wonder if there's a big difference between a 2005 Santa Fe and a 2019 Santa Fe.

OP, I know two people that bought Kia Sorrentos recently and seem really happy.

I love my 2010 Santa Fe. It is very comfortable and reliable. We love it for long road trips in particular but it is overall a great car.

Hyundai gives a very long warranty. We had a problem with the upholstery almost 5 years into ownership, and they fixed it under the warranty, no questions asked and no charge. We liked the Santa Fe so much that we bought an Elantra as a second car when my DH’s Toyota died.

I am a very loyal Hyundai owner!

We have a 2015 Kia Sorento (essentially the same thing as the Hyundai) and are extremely happy with it. It doesn’t feel cheap to me.

Just get the damn minivan.

The third row is going to be pretty useless as its not a very big SUV. I'd go a bit bigger if you need a 3rd row.

Have a 2013 3rd row one and love it. It's "like new" on the inside, rides well, is comfortable and spacious. I wish that it had a better telematics system but tthat's probaby asking too much.
